Parents buying houses for their college-age children in the UK are sending housing prices skyrocketing. Increased student debt levels after graduation, and quality of available houses in multiple occupation (HMOs, the UK phrase for student rentals) play into the mix. The demand for student rental properties is high, and parents look to cash in on a long-term investment that also provides better housing for their offspring.
