Los Angeles at the Forefront of Transit-Oriented Development

As the Rail-Volution conference kicks off in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County is touted as "being at the forefront of a growing trend to building housing close to rail transit."

Rail-Volution, which has attracted over 900 participants from 160 cities, opened with a showcase of "urban villages" along rail routes, including a housing and mixed-use retail project planned along the Metro Gold Line in Pasadena, CA. Many are hoping that the Gold Line "on which daily ridership has been lackluster thus far will enjoy a surge in popularity once the new neighbors move in."

Developers have invested a combined total of over $4 billion for 37 housing and mixed-use projects that are underway around local rail stations along the Metro Gold Line, Red Line and Blue Line.
