Poll finds support for expanding the public transportation system.
"More Minnesotans support expanding the public transportation system to lessen traffic gridlock than support building and expanding highways, an advocacy group's poll suggests.
In the Twin Cities, about one in three people contacted in the poll said they supported a combination of transit and new road-building to address congestion, according to a poll released today by the Itasca Project, a group of business and civic leaders that is proposing a new statewide transportation-funding plan.
About half of Twin Cities respondents said transit alone was the best way to address congestion, while roughly one in five said road construction alone was the ideal approach, according to the poll."
