Strolling Ventura Boulevard

Conceived in the 1980s, and scaled down in 1996, a plan to make Ventura Boulevard walker-friendly is again being discussed. But it looks as though it will be a very slow go.

The Ventura/Cahuenga Boulevard Corridor Specific Plan governs growth along the 17-mile boulevard. There is hope that the LA City Council will approve a make-over (which would affect only new businesses). The proposal would also loosen other restrictions for the five pedestrian-oriented zones. Sufficient funding for the project continues to be a problem.
