The Fraser Institute publishes a report by Wendell Cox questioning Ontario's plans to implement smart growth policies intended to slow the growth of urban land areas.

Smart Growth policies designed to counter urban growth, actually threaten prosperity, increase housing costs, and lead to more traffic congestion and air pollution according to a new study Myths about Urban Growth and the Toronto Greenbelt, published by The Fraser Institute.

The geographical growth of urban areas has become a heated issue across Canada but particularly in Ontario, where the McGuinty government has designated a massive 7,000 square km greenbelt, and appointed a Greenbelt Task Force to develop other policies intended to slow or stop urban growth around Ontarios 'Golden Horseshoe'.
