Palm Beach County's state legislative delegation served notice on January 19th that growth in western agricultural areas could be taken out of county control unless the County Commission approves a growth plan of its own.
In a joint meeting with County Commissioners, the legislative delegation said that if the County had approved its "sector plan", it wouldn't be faced with another potential fight against an "agricultural enclave bill" that had been vetoed by Governor Bush the previous year because the bill would encourage urban sprawl and take growth control from local governments. The controversial "sector plan", a detailed proposal to manage growth in west-central Palm Beach County, has been under discussion for years.
