It may soon be too late to fight global warming says a new report. For the first time in a document of its kind, it also identifies a threshold beyond which it would not be possible to reverse the impact of climate change.

And it breaks new ground by putting a figure - for the first time in such a high-level document - on the danger point of global warming, that is, the temperature rise beyond which the world would be irretrievably committed to disastrous changes."
