California 2000 Quick Facts, located at http://www.governor.ca.gov/ca2000, has useful information about California's demographics, electorate, and government. The site also provides users with an overview of hot issues, including education, crime and justice, health care, as well as information on the California agriculture, trade and commerce, transportation, information technology, and other topics. The site also includes some California "Fun Facts". For example: In the last 12 months, California motorists totaled more than 152 billion "vehicle miles traveled" on the State Highway System; There are approximately 250 miles of carpool lanes in California; Geographically, future population growth will occur both in dense urban areas along the state. s coast and in its southern and Central Valley counties. The Central Valley counties of Fresno, Kern, and San Joaquin, as well as southeastern counties of Riverside and San Bernardino, will experience the most rapid population increases, with each area expected to double by the year 2020.
