New, modern brownstone townhomes being built in Orange County, California - an area known more for single-family tract homes.

"Of course, these houses are not classic 19th-century Manhattan or Brooklyn brownstones with stained-glass transoms, 14-foot ceilings, white-marble mantels and parquet floors. But brownstones - a generic New York term for townhouses - are becoming more prevalent and more popular in Orange County...

One reason that brownstones - along with other quintessentially urban housing forms like luxury high-rise condos and loft apartments - are popping up in a region better known for the single-family tract home is that Orange County itself is increasingly urban."
