Philadelphia has joined a growing list of cities banning smoking in all bars and restaurants.

In Philadelphia, "[a] new citywide smoking ban would cover all workplaces, but the greatest emphasis has been on those that count as 'offices' for thousands of waitstaff: the city's bars and restaurants." According to one supporter, "No one should have to risk their health to hold down a job." Opponents argue that the ban will "put the hospitality industry in the city at a serious competitive disadvantage," especially combined with an already high drink tax. Is smoking a thing of the past in major cities?
