Eminent Domain: Used or Abused?

Are local governments are using eminent domain to eliminate blight--or to boost tax revenues?

In advance of an upcoming property rights case before the U.S. Supreme Court later this month, a new report from the Reason Foundation examines recent uses of eminent domain by local governments. Researchers find that "a growing number of governments are using eminent domain to circumvent the conventional real estate market," razing modest homes and small businesses for high-end redevelopment.
