Critics say purchase of landfill by a coalition of Los Angeles County sanitation districts will make Riverside County the dumping ground for L.A. residents' trash. '"(Los Angeles County) has a track record (of) taking their environmental problems and putting them on the backs of less populated and less wealthy counties," said Brian Huse, a spokesman for the National Parks and Conservation Association, the leading advocacy group for national parks. "This is the county that gave us Owens ‘Dry’ Lake and almost killed Mono Lake."'
