"The smallest metro area with an elevated rail line of the kind being proposed for Honolulu is Miami with a population of 3.9 million, which is 4.5 times our size. It was built in 1984 and was the last American heavy rail built.

...We must remember that only about 8 percent of Honolulus commuter traffic is by transit and trying to solve a 100 percent problem by focusing on the least important element of that problem is not too smart."
