While,Most Chinese cities are badly planned sprawls: part spaghetti junction, part shopping mall, part slum, Shanghai is, starting to take on the chic of Paris, the sophistication of New York and the futuristic vibes of Tokyo.

Areas of Shanghai could serve as a model for booming development in Mainland China, where over 300 million residents are expected to move into new homes within the next decade.
