LA's Chinatown Becomes BID

Merchants and property owners vote 56-43 to create a Business Improvement Zone in Chinatown. Some are not happy with this decision.

Los Angeles' Chinatown needs a major revitalization to bring back tourists and business. It is anticipated that the creation of a BID will do the trick. Many property owners do not agree with this action. Some feel that simply creating affordable parking is all that is needed. Assessments will be levied beginning in January 2001.
