Representatives from the Sierra Club, the Sonoma CountyHousing Advocacy Group, Greenbelt Alliance and the Sonoma County FaithBased Coalition signed an agreement last week aimed at promotingcooperation among environmentalist and affordable housing advocates. Thecoalition outlined goals within the collaboration, including efforts toensure restrictive land-use policies do not hinder the construction ofaffordable housing, and also emphasizing development in urban ratherthan rural areas. The group additionally plans to lobby state and localofficials for more tax funds toward affordable housing.
