The 2012 Games in New York City might be in jeopardy if the stadium deal falls through.
"Sheldon Silver, the Democratic speaker of the State Assembly, voiced strong misgivings about the stadium plan, saying that focusing on the West Side could undercut rebuilding efforts downtown, where his district lies. When asked whether he believed, fundamentally, that a stadium would be a bad idea for Manhattan, he said yes.
...The Bloomberg administration has said approval for the stadium is needed before Olympics officials decide which city will be the host for the 2012 Games. With a decision on the Olympics fast approaching, some lawmakers, lobbyists and others have said the delays may hurt the city's chances to secure the Games."
