Over the past two years, both a BID and a coalition for economic justice have formed in LA's Figueroa Corridor.
The corridor runs south down Figueroa Street from the Santa Monica Freeway past USC to Exposition Park. Numerous historic structures -- the Doheny Mansion, the Shrine Auditorium, St Vincent's Church, the Coliseum -- testify tothe central role the area once played in the City's life. After years of economic decline, local merchants recently established a BID. Local activists have also formed an organization, to look after residents' interests.
