Congressional leaders, including Rep. Tom Delay and Sen. John Culberson have agreed to help Houston METRO receive $1 billion in transit funding over the next decade. "Bus rapid transit, which uses buses running on theirown guideways, would be substituted for light railin the initial phases of the North, Southeast and Harrisburg corridors and in a corridor through theUptown-Galleria area from the Northwest Transit Center to the vicinity of Westpark and S. Rice"
