The Trust for Public Land's president, Will Rogers speaks about how voters across the nation are coping with the politics of growth and the loss of the places they care about.
"Last Election Day in both red states and blue states, Americans voted decisively to spend three-and-a-quarter billion more dollars to protect natural areas and neighborhood parks. Of 161 conservation measures nationwide, voters approved 120 -or 75 percent. While the presidential election did not turn on environmental issues, voters still sent a strong message on the environment. Red states and blue states both voted green when it came to open space and nature. The support is broad and deep: It's everywhere and everyone where growth is changing our landscapes."
