State Parks At Risk Across the U.S.

Environmental News Service: State parks across the United States are facing serious threats from encroaching development and a lack of political commitment to preserving them, a new report released today finds. The study by the National Park Trust warns that the well being and the very existence of many state parks is in jeopardy. State parks receive just as many visitors each year as do national parks. Yet these green treasures receive far less attention - and often far less funding and political backing - than federally managed national parks.
