Once seen as saviors, dot-coms are causing problems in communities; some high-tech businesses in San Francisco are trying to make amends.

Ccommunities welcomed high-tech businesses in the hope of bringing in new jobs. But the pace of high-tech businesses is causing problems in some communities such as those in San Francisco where dot-coms are driving up rents and driving out long-time residents who can no longer afford to live there. Residents complain that these businesses do not want to give back to the community. Some dot-coms in San Francisco are now trying to make amends.
