Santa Barbara main industry used to be tourism and it didn't provide enough job opportunities. Now it is growing into 'Silicon Valley South' and high-tech professionals are flocking to the city. Long-time residents are worried about the impact of the dot-com invasion. "Santa Barbara has deep environmentalist roots, maintaining some of the toughest no-growth urban planning policies in California."
