Eye-popping towers with decorative tops loom over Charlotte's bustling Trade and Tryon streets intersection. Pedestrians (about 15,000 will dwell in downtownâ€™s four wards by 2008) flood sidewalk-level eateries and retail shops. An electric trolley moves from downtown (called Center City or Uptown by the locals) to South End/Dilworth, whose many warehouses and industrial buildings have been renovated."
