The City of Boston and a group of private developers will seek to develop the last downtown frontier by adding 3 million square feet of development on what is currently a sea of parking lots.

"After years of debate and delays, 21 acres of prime waterfront known as Fan Pier will pass out of the hands of the Pritzker family of Chicago, who spent parts of three decades and untold millions of dollars in an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to build out downtown Boston's last frontier...If the deal is done today, the dusty acreage used to park cars could soon begin to be transformed into a new neighborhood."
