A group is trying to save one of the last examples of Googie architecture in Las Vegas.
"Las Vegas buildings seem forever either to be getting built or getting torn down, and few have ever been considered for any sort of architectural preservation...The members of a group called Preserve Nevada, which is allied with the Public History Program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, are engaged in a desperate effort to save the swooping structure [of the La Concha Motel] by cutting it into pieces and shipping it downtown, where it would be reassembled to serve as the entrance to the Neon Museum, a collection of vintage neon signs."
