The Boston Redeveloment Authority continues to confuse those involved in a Theatre Disrict re-development project.
"After vacillating for eight years on the future of a prime piece of land in the Theater District, the Boston Redevelopment Authority in May said it wanted a nine-story building. A local team including neighboring Tufts-New England Medical Center proposed a commercial and residential building -- of nine floors.
But in August the BRA rejected that proposal, instead choosing a New Jersey outdoor advertising company's plan for a three-story building. Nine floors was financially unworkable, the ad firm said.
Now the BRA is asking the very same company it chose to add six floors of residential space -- essentially to create the kind of development that the BRA first asked for, then rejected.
Confused?"
