The Department of Housing and Urban Development has funds to support several studies related to the mortgage purchases of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two major government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) in the secondary mortgage market. This is the second round of such grants-11 studies were funded in a 1997 competition. The Department encourages empirical research based on various mortgage market data sources, including the Department's Public Use Database (PUDB) on mortgage purchases by the GSEs. The PUDB provides detailed information on the borrowers and census tract locations of properties backing GSE loan purchases. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. eastern time on September 29, 2000, at the address specified in the Application Kit. Applications that do not meet requirements specified in the Application Kit will not be considered. Award subject to availability of fiscal year 2001 funding.
