Sierra Club Promotes Alternatives to Sprawl

The Sierra Club has published a guidebook of 12 healthy and livable communities, built on redeveloped urban sites.

Better known for fighting urban sprawl, the nation's oldest and largest environmental organization released the list of 12 projects nationwide to offer developers and city planners models for building "healthy and livable communities."

The 12 projects were selected based on criteria including: access to public transportation; redevelopment of existing urban areas; homes located near businesses and offices; minimal pollution; and energy-efficient design."
