Top 'Digital Cities' In 2005

The Center for Digital Government has posted the results of its survey, which examines how well city governments use technology to help its citizens.

Leading this year's list for cities over 250,000 or more population are:

1st Place: City of Corpus Christi, Texas

2nd Place: City of Tampa, Fla.

3rd Place: City of Los Angeles, Calif.

Leading the list for cities with populations under 250,000 are:

1st Place: City of Madison, Wisc.

2nd Place: City of Richmond, Va.

3rd Place: City of Winston-Salem, N.C.

â€œThis survey showcases a significant increase in citiesâ€™ utilization of both wireless and broadband infrastructure,â€ said Cathilea Robinett, executive director of the Center. â€œThis survey also continues to showcase the level of commitment by local officials to view technology as a key element in delivering vital citizen services. We are pleased to honor our nationâ€™s cutting-edge cities with the 2005 Digital Cities Survey award.â€
