Promising Tax Relief for Canada's Public Transit Users

In Vancouver, Conservative leader Stephen Harper announces that public-transit users would be eligible for a tax credit under a Tory government.

"Stephen Harper, who acknowledges he rarely uses public transit, boarded a bus yesterday to repeat his promise to give transit riders a tax break. In his third announcement in three days in British Columbia, the Conservative Leader said he would bring in a 16-per-cent federal tax credit for transit users who buy monthly or annual passes. The average savings per person would be $153 annually, he said...Canadians should use buses and commuter trains more often because fewer cars on the road mean cleaner air, the Conservative Leader said."
