"A quest for affordable housing is driving an increasing number of young people, families and empty nesters from the New York suburbs to destinations near and far, a review of migration data by The New York Times shows."

"Increasing numbers of residents are emigrating to more affordable suburbs and cities around the country, especially to central and northern Florida. Indeed, the rate of migration from the New Jersey suburbs to the Orlando area is up 80 percent over 1996. And these days, the migration is not dominated by retirees, who historically had headed to such coastal retirement destinations as St. Petersburg, Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach."
