The challenges are great, but city officials and business leaders are hopeful that Detroit will build upon its successful Superbowl weekend.

"The visitors have left but the accolades continue to arrive. Even the jaded are praising Detroit for doing a bang-up job with Super Bowl XL.

Now that the confetti has dropped, regional civic leaders turned their attention Monday to harnessing the momentum and using it to foster redevelopment and other improvements in downtown Detroit."

However, "As the dream of Super Bowl Sunday bumped up against the reality of a workday Monday, political and business leaders conceded the city's path to championship caliber is blocked by skyscraper-sized challenges ranging from blight to crime to city budget woes."
