A one-day "Canal Conversation" conference will bring together leaders in the field of heritage tourism to provide an independent look at a controversy that has pitted historic preservationists against supporters of a $28.2 million state plan geared toward more active waterfront uses. Construction on much of the project stopped in June, after questions were raised about the accuracy of the design of Inner Harbor, a 12-acre site on the downtown waterfront.
