Lata Mangeshkar, considered to be one of India great singers, supports those opposing plans to build a 3.5 kilometer long overpass through her neighborhood.

"Peddar road, a crucial link along Mumbai's north-south corridor, is flanked on both sides by the houses and flats of the city's rich and famous...The flyover will be three-and-a-half km long and about 30 feet high. It will run right past Mangeshkar's first floor apartment and will hem in all those who live along the road...But not everyone who lives on Peddar Road is against the flyover. They say it's wrong for Mangeshkar to use her status to bully the government."
