Pfau Architecture designs a full-city-block office development for multimedia tenants in San Francisco.
Pfau Architecture Ltd. is design architect and Gordon H Chong and Partners is executive architect for the 280,000-square-foot new building project. The design of 350 Rhode Island makes references to the duality of its urban environment, also seeking to avoid a huge building presence in this mixed-use neighborhood. A central open space splits the site, softening the architecture with landscaping and trees and allowing a through-block pedestrian connection to the adjacent streets. A multi-level open trussed walkway bridges the courtyard to link the two L-shaped buildings. The buildings are designed to accomodate fast-growing Internet companies.
