Mysterious Disease Killing Oak Trees

Northern California has been hit by a fungus that is killing hundreds of thousands of oaks. It is feared that the disease might spread across the US.

Three species of oak are being attacked by a fungus related to the organisms that caused the Irish potato famine in the mid-1800s. Although the disease is limited to within 20 miles of the coast, there is no cure for the aggressive killer. It is feared that it could move across the country.
