According to a new report, New York, Hawaii, and California have made the most progress in improving their energy efficiency.

According to a study "National and State Energy Use and Carbon EmissionTrends," New York, Hawaii, and California have made the most progressin improving their energy efficiency over the last 20 years, whileAlaska and North Dakota have made the least. Reductions in nationalenergy and carbon intensity (energy/carbon used per unit of grossdomestic product (GDP)) by 42% and 47%, respectively, were achieved overthe past 30 years, the report states, conferring enormous economic,environmental and national security benefits.Still, much more progressneeds to be made, and the ACEEE recommends implementing policies toimprove energy efficiency and increase use of renewable energy sources.
