A $4.5-million 784 acre parcel at the southern boundry to Big Sur has been purchased by the US Forest Service.

The 1.75-million-acre Los Padres National Forest has grown, thanks to a purchase of 784 acres by the US Forest Service. This area is the southernmost home to the state's coastal redwoods. It is hoped that Congress will permanently fund a conservation endowment to protect US natural resources.
