A partnership of the City of Columbus, the Central Ohio Building Industrial Association, a local housing group, and others, is sponsoring an affordable housing project built to green standards.
Mayor Michael Coleman of Columbus has initiated a Green agenda, which includes both city operational changes, as well as green business development and affordable housing. The Greenview Estates project involves "30 homes in the neighborhood will be built to meet more-rigorous environmental standards than typical homes. Those standards â€" created by the seven builders involved and outside, environmental consultants â€" include top-notch insulation and careful attention to indoor air quality."
The goal of the program, which also includes a consultant engaged to assure that homes are built to green standards, is to demonstrate that affordable housing and green construction can go hand in hand.
