After being named the new Planning Director by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in February, former San Diego City Planner Gail Goldberg has been busy cutting back on the city's case backlog and making plans for injecting the practical growth policy ideas she brought to L.A.'s southern neighbor.

"On a recent morning, four months into her tenure at City Hall, Goldberg sat down with Los Angeles Downtown News to chat about the future of her department, the Los Angeles River, the 'unofficial non-moratorium' on development in the Industrial District of Downtown Los Angeles and other matters, planned and unplanned."
