Can the right combination of architectural design, site location, and sustainable building materials create a house with net zero energy consumption? Tom Kelly has sought to answer that question with the construction of his new mountain home near Mount Hood in Oregon. The sustainably designed house runs on solar power and sends excess power back to the electrical grid. If the US Green Building Council approves the application, the home could become the first LEED-certified residence in the state.
