"A team of internationally known planning consultants led by Peter Calthorpe will develop a comprehensive plan for the next 25 years for the region between the Sabine and Pearl rivers.

...Gatherings of interested people in Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans contributed ideas on the direction and scope of coastal restoration, but also on the critical rebuilding choices facing the state’s southern tier of parishes hit so hard by the 2005 storms.

Calthorpe’s signature type of plan â€" done in the United States and other places abroad â€" crunches all the data and the suggestions from residents into three scenarios for the future. Each would reflect different ideas and have different choices for governments and communities."
