Teenagers in Providence, Rhode Island, are getting a taste of classic planning issues.
"Two-dozen teenagers are getting the chance to play urban planner in the very neighborhoods where they live and go to school.
Thanks to a program run by Volunteers in Providence Schools, these high school students will redesign a street in the West End or Olneyville and then present their revitalization plans to the city Department of Planning and Development.
Working in small groups, each team will pick a one-block area and develop a plan to refurbish that street using the "elements of great neighborhoods."
