The San Diego County Water Authority released thestate-mandated 2000 Urban Water Management Plan, which predicts that theregion will use 30% more water by 2020.
Even though the plan doessuggest that the region may have less access to Colorado River water inthe future due to a push by Western states for California to reduce itsuse, the plan predicts an increase in local water supplies through waterrecycling, groundwater reclamation, and possibly sea water desalination.Water Authority officials are pleased with the plan' emphasis onconservation and reclamation efforts along with "water transfers" tobolster supplies. The public has 30 days to review the plan, which canbe found at the web page for the San Diego County Water Authority,http://www.sdcwa.org/ .
