The number of permits issued for new home construction has taken a major downturn in California, where the amount of new home permits has fallen 47% since last year.
"Builders received permits for 11,590 homes -- including houses, apartments and condos -- in September, down 47 percent from 21,717 a year ago, according to the California Building Industry Association and the Construction Industry Research Board."
"There were 6,727 permits issued for single-family homes statewide, the fewest number for the month of September in 10 years and a decline of 57 percent from the same time last year."
