Despite disagreements about the planned density, plans for a large-scale transit-oriented development is on the verge of being adopted in the city of Boulder, Colorado. A final approval is expected to come in early 2007.
"City of Boulder planners, city officials, consultants and members of the public finished a great deal of work on a Transit Village Area Plan (TVAP) in 2006, and City Council is expected to adopt a plan in early 2007."
"The city's TVAP goals, in short, included updating transportation connections - roadways, bike/pedestrian paths and conventional bus routes - between the BTV and other key city/regional corridors. Also, the TVAP team examined several different options for how many new housing units and new jobs the area could support, and almost every option suggested significant new TOD density."
