FBI statistics that identify Kansas City as having the most violent crime in the nation fortify results from a recent survey of residents who are more concerned about crime than residents of the reigning "most dangerous city in America", St. Louis.
"In a series of polls, the Mid-America Regional Council asked residents in four metropolitan areas, including Kansas City, about their quality of life. What emerged was a portrait of Kansas Citians as more frightened and less trusting than inhabitants of metropolitan St. Louis, Denver or Minneapolis."
"According to FBI statistics, Kansas City and its suburbs last year had a higher violent crime rate than many of their peers, including metropolitan St. Louis, Denver and Minneapolis."
The results of the survey have come as a shock to many planning officials who didn't realize public safety was as big a concern as reported.
