Money from Proposition 12 will enable the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy to purchase a 326-acre parcel near Topanga State Park. This will enlarge the 46-mile SMM National Recreation Area. Half of the total area within the mountains is privately owned. LA County Supervisors have repeatedly eased density limits on mountain developments. That will have to change.
