Big TOD Project Breaks Ground In L.A.

Ground has been broken on an expansive transit-oriented development in the heart of Hollywood. A new hotel, apartment complex, and shopping center are part of the project, which is situated above one of L.A.'s subway stations.

"Elected officials joined developers in Hollywood to break ground on the mixed-use project that will have a 305-room W Hotel, 143 condominiums, 375 apartments and 50,000 square feet of retail space."

"The complex, which is being built around a Metro Red Line station, will include 78 affordable housing units."

"'With a housing crisis, traffic congestion and an ever-growing population, we have to build smarter, better and more traffic-friendly. And this project is, without question, on the cutting edge on creating livable, walkable transit-oriented communities,' said Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa."
